Autism Parenting - Get control of your time again - You can do it.

(Hint: You can do less than you're doing - and still be amazing for your child)

Father and Child Walking Together - Autism + Child

Sometimes parents feel overwhelmed.

Actually, 99% of the time we feel overwhelmed by:

  • Make your child's lunch.
  • Get your child to school despite the meltdown that we are anticipating.
  • Where are the clean school uniforms?
  • What do you mean you forgot your homework book?
  • No, I don't know where your toothbrush is (how does anybody lose a toothbrush?) .

Raising any child is overwhelming.

Raising your child with the extra work that goes into setting them up to succeed when they have Autism can be extremely overwhelming.

But what actually matters at the end of the day?

What is one thing that takes 5 minutes that our children will actually benefit from?

Maybe it's that 5 minutes of the day where you got down on your child's level and you just played Lego or Pokemon with your child.

Maybe it was when you let them talk to you about Minecraft (which you have no personal interest in) for 5 minutes and you just listened semi-attentively.

Maybe was when you jumped on the trampoline or rode your bike or kicked a soccer ball with your child for 5 minutes.

Maybe you're doing a better job as a parent than you realise. Maybe you are already doing the things that matter most.

Just so you know…

Here at Amazing Skills, myself and also every single staff member is impressed and amazed by the efforts that you are going to every day.

All those things you do that you think nobody would notice or care about… Your child notices.

And your child is the only audience that matters.

Keep being an awesome parent - because you already are doing great things,
